Andhra Pradesh is India's largest egg-producing state, accounting for about 18% of national output, and it has more NECC markets than any other — five. The coastal Godavari districts and Chittoor form one of the country's two great production belts, which is why AP's markets usually sit at the cheaper end of the national table. The exception is Chittoor, which supplies Chennai and Bengaluru and is pulled upward by their demand.
