About India Egg Rate
We publish the daily NECC suggested egg rate for 34 collection centres across 17 Indian states and union territories — free, with no login and no paywall — alongside the price history nobody else publishes: daily archives back to February 2009, charts, and month-by-month seasonal averages for every market.
What we do
Every day, the National Egg Co-ordination Committee (NECC) publishes a suggested egg price for each major Indian egg market. We read those rates the day they are issued and present them in a form you can actually use:
- In every unit the trade uses — per egg, per tray of 30, per 100 pieces, and per peti of 210.
- With the previous day’s number beside today’s, so you see the direction, not just the level.
- With the long view — 30 days, 12 months, and the full daily archive since 2009, including markets NECC no longer lists.
- With seasonality — the month-by-month average for each market across 17 years, so you know whether today is dear or cheap by that market’s own standards.
What we are not
We do not sell eggs. We do not broker trade, take commissions, or represent any farm, trader or cooperative. We do not set prices, and we cannot change them. We are not NECC, and we are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by NECC.
Where the data comes from
Every rate on this site originates from NECC’s own daily published suggested prices, read from e2necc.com, its official website. Those rates are, in NECC’s own words, “merely suggestive and not mandatory” — an industry body’s daily recommendation, not a government-set price. We add historical context, unit conversions and charts on top. We do not adjust, smooth, estimate or interpolate the underlying rates. The full mechanics — including what “suggested” versus “prevailing” means — are on where our rates come from.
How often it updates
Rates refresh daily, following NECC’s own publication cycle — typically each morning, India Standard Time. Every page states the date the displayed rate applies to. On days when NECC does not publish for a particular market, we show that market’s own last-published date rather than borrowing today’s — and when a rate is too old to quote as current, we show a dash and say so. We never carry a stale number forward dressed as today’s.
What the rate does and does not tell you
The NECC rate is a wholesale reference at the market — the number the trade negotiates around. It is not the price on your shop counter: a retailer adds transport, handling, breakage and their own margin, so retail prices run above the NECC rate, and that is normal rather than exploitative. If you want to know what you should pay in a shop, the NECC rate is your floor, not your target.
Corrections
If a figure on this site looks wrong, we want to know. Data errors get fixed the same day they are reported and verified, and where the error was material we note the correction on the page. Email: admin@indiaeggrate.today
Using our data
You are welcome to quote and cite figures from this site with attribution to India Egg Rate (indiaeggrate.today) and a link to the specific page. Always include the date the rate applies to — an undated egg rate is meaningless. The underlying rates are published by NECC and should be credited to NECC.
If you are a journalist, researcher or student who needs the historical series rather than a single figure, write to us. We would rather send you a clean extract than have you scrape the site.
Who runs this
India Egg Rate is run by Chanchal Chakrachhatri. It was built for the people who check this number every morning — farmers, traders, shopkeepers and households — so the day’s rate and its full history sit in one place, free, instead of behind a phone call.
